Little Briton Jack Uolborn suffered from congenital heart problems and heart valve narrowing. If the problem fails to have decided that in future it could threaten a child's life.
In such cases, doctors usually extend valve with wires and a special probe that is installed after a series of large-scale X-ray images. But in the case of Dr. Jack decided to do an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). The boy became the world's first patient, who at such a procedure generally did not need X-rays. Thus, the child was able to avoid radiation exposure, which in some cases can cause the formation of tumors.
MRI uses magnetic field, which not only virtually harmless to humans, but also allows doctors to get a more detailed picture of what is happening inside the body.
As far as X-rays in general is bad for health? Statistics is that - one out of two thousand adults and one in a thousand child gets sick with cancer, which will cause the passage of similar X-ray surveys. In fact, many patients have no idea about this sad connection, but still instinctively avoid X-rays, by opting for an MRI.
"To avoid radiation is especially important in cases with children, because their cells are more vulnerable to radiation, and thus the risk of cancer at some later segment of their lives is much higher - said Professor Reza Razavi of King's College London, who performed on Jack Uolbornom. - risk of cancer from X-rays is extremely small, but in recent years, we are increasingly using these procedures."

For the first time computed tomography as a nondestructive method of study of the internal structure of the object appeared in the 70s of last century, and the theoretical foundations of their own appearance of this diagnostic method were laid in 20 years. Now it is difficult to imagine a modern high-tech...
